artist's profile Born
and grew up in Oxfordshire I have had a love for art right from an early age; the majority of my
childhood memories are of drawing and colouring in pictures! I thoroughly looked forward to art lessons at
school as I was eager to learn different techniques and experiment with an assortment of materials. Achieving a grade
'A' in GCSE Art I went on to develop my talents by completing an Art and Craft A level, National
Diploma and finally an Art and Design Degree. Living and working in the North East of England for 12 years I developed
my art career as a hobby and returned back to Oxfordshire in 2009.
my inspiration My
canvases are inspired by the nature that surrounds us. I gather inspiration when out walking or travelling to
recreate a piece of art. I apply natural materials such as sand and plaster to add interest with texture giving the painting
depth; this allows me to build up layers of paint through dry brushing and experiment with colour creating
interesting contours of colour and texture together. This creation of depth and detail allows my
paintings to be admired from both close up and afar. All my canvases are textured to add another element of interest as well as the vivid colours
to uplift a rooms' scheme. They are an unframed modern box edge design. Hanging Tip...For dramatic effect the texture on the canvas can be enhanced by illuminating the artwork from above or below when hung on the wall. funky kids canvases My new range of funky kids canvases were created from one design that I made for my twins' nursery. After having lovely feedback from friends and family I decided to develop them further and add them to my collection. By using fabric as well as paint gives another dimension to the art and allows me to be creative in a whole different manner. The quirky faces with often mouthless expressions and swirly eyes adds comical charm. As the kids canvases are made to order they will slightly vary from those shown. Please allow approximately two weeks for production and delivery. |
